Butler University is surrounded by the city of Indianapolis, which is the capital of this mid-western state. The Butler campus occupies 290 acres just five miles north of downtown. The campus is laid out in a triangular shape facing east, delineated by a river at the base with fraternity houses around the perimeter of the two sides.
Visitors are welcome, as soon as they arrive on campus with Greek letters emblazoned on the fraternity houses along with the vibrant banners hanging out of the windows. These big posters and signs announce an upcoming event or a social program which infuse energy to this campus.
There is enthusiasm in the air as students mill around and take pride in their social Greek organizations. Students must maintain a certain grade point average to remain in these fraternities. These organize much of the social life on campus and engage students in a variety of activities.
